Job Description

CAMH, SickKids, amp; Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto and Patsy and Jamie Anderson Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health

Launched in 2013 by CAMH, SickKids, and the University of Toronto, the Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative is set to transform mental health care for children and youth. With the upcoming founding Chief, Dr. Peter Szatmari, stepping down, there exists an opportunity for an accomplished clinician and researcher to lead the expansion of bold and positive changes in the understanding and treatment of child and youth mental health.

Chief, Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative

The Chief of this one-of-a-kind collaborative assumes the Patsy and Jamie Anderson Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health. The CYMHC reflects the commitment of three globally recognized institutions to transform mental health care delivery, accelerate mental health research, and develop a robust next generation of child and youth psychiatrists and mental health clinicians in Canada. With the deep and wide fractures in today’s society, the economy, and families, mental health has never been more important. There exists an imperative to achieve unparalleled improvements and better outcomes in child and youth mental health through collaborations, innovations and partnerships.

Requirements

The Chief must be a visionary leader who will link clinical priorities to research and professional development through clinical innovation, research, and training. They will convey passion for both the clinical and academic aspects of the role and will ensure impact both internally and externally.

The role is primarily strategic but also demands experience in, and appreciation for, what it takes to execute across complex multiple stakeholder structures towards shared objectives. Specifically, the Chief oversees and inspire several direct reports and over 100 faculty members. The role demands leadership not only internally across three prestigious institutions, but also externally with government and community stakeholders. The Chief is accountable to the Labatt Chair of Psychiatry at U of T and the CEOs of CAMH and SickKids as CAMH’s Physician-in-Chief, and SickKids’ Chief Medical Officer and Vice President for Medical and Academic Affairs.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. The position will be based in Toronto and requires Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status.

CAMH, SickKids, and the University of Toronto, SickKids are strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from racialized persons/persons of colour, women, Indigenous/Aboriginal People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. These institutions strive to be equitable and inclusive communities, and proactively seek to increase diversity among community members. Values regarding equity and diversity are linked with an unwavering commitment to excellence in the pursuit of mission. These institutions are committed to the principles of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). As such, they strive to make recruitment, assessment and selection processes as accessible as possible and provide accommodations as required for applicants with disabilities.
