Job Description

If you’re looking for a role with a highly engaged, tight-knit team, an exciting variety of clients, and more independence and responsibility than your standard office job, then you’re looking for us.

We’re Allen Leigh Consulting, and we work with some of Canada’s most exciting start-up and mid-stage ventures across the country. From talent strategy to organizational development to coaching services for high-potential leaders, we provide tailor-made human resources solutions to suit every one of our clients.

If you are an early-career Human Resources professional who is looking to make an impact in small and medium size businesses across Canada, then this is the role for you.

Human Resources Assistant

Working closely with our HR Business Partner and HR Coordinator, your goal is to enable our clients to seamlessly implement our services into their business by ensuring detailed, proactive, and consistent support throughout the process.

Success in this role will depend on a high level of detail orientation and exceptional people skills. You’ll need to bring empathy and emotional intelligence to all your interactions, while building and maintaining HR processes to meet a variety of client needs. We’ll also look to you to bring a strong awareness of current HR laws and trends, as well as a pragmatic, business-minded approach to your work.

You’ll also be responsible for administering our HRIS system, while working with numerous other software programs (i.e. Monday.com), so you’ll need to have a strong background in technology and be comfortable learning and adapting to new systems as required.

Practically speaking, you will:

  • Review and create HR documentation and engagement surveys for our clients
  • Set up our clients on our HRIS system and be the HRIS administrator, collecting and tracking employee data as needed
  • Draft employee handbooks as part of the onboarding process, tailoring to client needs
  • Create job offers, file and edit job descriptions, and coordinate performance review programs
  • Manage performance check-in’s and monthly one-on-one programs for client tracking metrics
  • Ensure all our client HR files are up to date and accurately filed online
  • Conduct research into new HR legal trends and provide written insights to the team
  • Research and recommend training options as needed for clients
  • Potentially provide training and other front-line HR duties as deemed comfortable and able to perform

Most importantly, we’re looking for an independent doer: someone who can complete tasks without needing to be micromanaged. You’re capable of making decisions, and when you see a problem, you find solutions and solve it.
