We’re looking for an experienced and talented IT Systems Engineer to join our Tech team. As the IT Systems Engineer, you will facilitate growth, keep our IT and telecom systems running and develop our IT infrastructure to meet the ever-increasing demands in our Vancouver HQ and remote distribution centers in the US, Canada and Vietnam. Key responsibilities include maintaining our cloud and onsite infrastructure, assisting in the implementation of major projects and initiatives, and working with our diverse teams to provide enterprise-grade reliable solutions.


Responsibilities and daily tasks include:

  • Implements, manages and maintains industry standard infrastructure and services
  • Provide technical support to Particles in our Vancouver HQ and in remote locations
  • Provide expert advice, proactive suggestions, and technical mentorship to the Helpdesk team
  • Manages, monitors and analyzes network equipment, servers, cloud resources, and ensure continuous operation of IT and telecom services
  • Work with users in different departments and contractors on the implementation and maintenance of the voice/phone system; obtains information, assesses requirements and compatibility with existing systems, estimates costs and provides advice
  • Performs role as a subject matter expert and product specialist for IT solutions
  • Proactively find gaps that impact multiple teams/orgs, come up with the execution plan and drive the project and influence other teams to reach there
  • Drive requirements with vendors and third parties to align our internal tooling efforts.
  • Collaborate with various Article teams to advocate for our needs and design solutions for our business and internal stakeholders
  • Participate in designing and implementing strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Assessment of company security implementations, identify security issues and prioritize fixes
  • Participate in creating and enforce corporate IT security standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application, deployment, and operations ensuring systems are available and minimizing any downtime
  • Work with IT Team to perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions
  • Build automation tools to streamline and scale applications in the production environment
  • Maintain, develop, and support documentation of systems, procedures, and KB information
  • Provide technical support to end-users, managing ticket system, and establishing service level agreements

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Systems Administrator
  • Diploma in computer systems technology, computing studies, or equivalent technology diploma
  • Solid experience with administering cloud services such as G Suite, Office 365, JumpCloud, Saas.
  • FreshWorks, WorkForce Management Systems, Wrike experience are an asset
  • Experience with major AWS services (EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, CloudFormation, RDS, etc.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and network implementation requirements
  • Thorough understanding of fundamental network protocols such as HTTP, TCP, UDP, etc
  • Experience in the configuration and maintenance of VMWare virtualized environments
  • Solid experience with VoIP technologies and telecom systems in enterprise businesses
  • Strong scripting and automation skills
  • Experienced with a mixed operating systems environment (Windows, Mac, Linux)
  • Solid communication skills for explaining concepts and processes to end-users and peers.
  • Proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
  • Adaptable and open to constant priority changes and able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Industry recognized certifications (Nice to have)
