Your Team and You:
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our new Architecture team who will be designing, developing and supporting our effort to modernize our internal systems that run our business. The Architecture team will also be advocating technical best practices and building tools that help the productivity of our Engineering teams. At Article our Senior Software Engineers are involved in all aspects of the software lifecycle and are given the freedom to succeed.

What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and building software solutions while adhering to good engineering practices
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and designing the right software solutions
- Continual analysis of existing software architecture and design with a critical eye for improvement
- Collaborating with other technical team members to identify opportunities to improve our internal libraries, frameworks, services and infrastructure
- Conducting pull request reviews
- Understanding architectural tradeoffs and how to build scalable, reliable, performant and secure systems
- Documenting system design and technical solutions
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in software development
- Bachelor Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Development, or equivalent practical experience
- Expert level knowledge of Java
- Excellent problem-solving and solutioning skills
- Strong knowledge of RDBMS database in particular MySQL
- Experience with event streaming and Apache Kafka
- Experience building software on AWS platform
- Excellent communication skills: written, spoken and diagrams
- Relentless in the pursuit of remarkably better solutions
Nice to have:
- Designing large scale, reliable and secure systems
- Modernizing legacy systems
- Building microservices
- Spring Boot and/or Play Framework
- Front end Javascript framework such as vue.js
- We like seeing people who contribute to Open Source projects
