As ATB’s next Occupational Health amp; Safety Manager, you're on a mission to support the health and safety of our team members by bringing to life a culture of safety across ATB.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Occupational Health amp; Safety, the OHamp;S Manager is responsible for ensuring that Management Commitment, Hazard Identification, Assessment and Controls, Workplace Inspections, Orientation and Training, Emergency Response Plans, First Aid, Fire Warden Program, Workers’ Compensation, Ergonomics and Office Safety, Incident Reporting and Investigation, Workplace Violence and Harassment, WHMIS, COR Safety Audits, Legislative Compliance and Ongoing Program Administration are delivered to ATB Financial.

What’s the opportunity all about?

You will support all ATB team members from across Canada in ensuring legislative compliance with relevant health amp; safety legislation. Through your strong ability to build relationships and distill and translate complex problems you will work with team members, leaders and joint health and safety committees to build and foster a culture of safety at ATB. This includes conducting site visits, developing training, hosting safety meetings, developing health amp; safety program content, writing manuals and policies related to working from home, disability management, emergency response management and COVID-19.

OHamp;S Manager Accountabilities:

  • Develop and coach a strong network of OHamp;S Representatives across all ATB locations.
  • Develop enterprise wide communication plans and strategies related to OHamp;S.
  • Perform in person site visits for Southern Alberta, in person and virtual ergonomic assessments, and educational OHamp;S sessions.
  • Lead and execute on the annual Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, manuals, hazard assessments and forms.
  • Ensure the ATB Financial OHamp;S Management System documentation is current and in line with all applicable Alberta, BC and Ontario OHamp;S legislation.
  • Promote healthy and safe work environments by educating and working with business partners to promote OHamp;S in all processes.
  • Use sound business judgement to procure affordable and functional furniture solutions for injured team members.
  • Support special projects as assigned by the Senior Manager, OHamp;S.
  • Create new and ad hoc reporting requests and distribute regular reports to relevant parties
  • Create detailed business/data analysis documents, highlight problems and opportunities with your insights

Requirements

Skills that will lead to success:

  • A diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • A CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years experience as an OHamp;S practitioner.
  • A strong understanding of office ergonomics.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to create and implement effective solutions in terms of OHamp;S.
  • Experience with the development of complex analytical or statistical programs and/or processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact effectively with Business Unit Management, Lines of Business, as well as external vendors
  • Self-directed, self-motivated amp; committed to continuous learning
  • Self-starter, keen eye for details and ability to identify gaps
  • The drive to achieve results independently in a virtual environment.
