Job Description

Vulcraft Canada, the local division of the largest joist and deck manufacturer, supplies quality products, on-time deliveries, as well as a breadth of offerings and innovative solutions to the steel construction industry. With manufacturing locations in Ancaster, Ontario, and Nisku, Alberta, Vulcraft plants are strategically located to serve customers across the Canadian market.
PURPOSE: Support the production facility of Vulcraft with machine repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Assist the safety team in the design, development, and/or installation of machine guards and safety devices. Advise Management in machine purchasing and installation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrate conduct consistent with Vulcraft’s vision and values.
2. Perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and optimum functioning equipment, systems, and processes.
3. Troubleshoot, repair, and modify equipment to maintain workplace safety and production efficiency.
4. Generate parts lists and labour time estimates for maintenance and repairs.
5. Train key shop teammates on new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment.
6. Maintain repair records.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum two years experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance and repairs
- Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
- Must be organized and detail-oriented
- Effective verbal and written communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Two-year technical diploma from an accredited school or college
- Training in electrical controls, welding, mobile crane operation, and rigging
SPECIAL DEMANDS
- Overtime hours may be required
- Travel may be required
- Must be familiar with and adhere to Vulcraft and OHamp;S standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Heavy lifting may be necessary
- Working conditions may be noisy, dusty, hot, cold
