Job Description

Scope of Position:

To oversee the delivery of the Ontario Works program in accordance with the Ontario Works Act and the Ministry of Community and Social Services directives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of the Ontario Works program in accordance with legislation (Ontario Works Act), Ministry of Community and Social Services Directives, and Corporate and Departmental Policies
  • Maintain excellent and up to date knowledge of the legislation and guidelines and communicate changes and updates to staff
  • Assist in the Ontario Works budget preparation and make recommendations considering previous year performance, and local priorities
  • Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate staff complement to meet the operational needs of the team and within the Ministry allocated administration funding
  • Provide leadership to the team by fostering teamwork, encouraging goal setting, delegating responsibility, requiring accountability, and providing regular feedback
  • Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, coaching, and discipline
  • Provide regular supervision and support to Case Managers through one to one scheduled supervision
  • Facilitate integrated planning and effective working relationships with the community and agency partners by liaising with internal and external collaterals, and participating on local committees and planning tables
  • Liaise with community agencies and professionals regarding participant concerns and Ontario Works program delivery
  • Address participant complaints and concerns as required
  • Ensure allocated funding is expended as per Ministry Guidelines and according to the Council approved budget
  • Develop, implement, maintain and monitor Ontario Works Policies, Service Plans, and Targets
  • Participate in the development of emergency shelters in the event of a local emergency and in collaboration with the Norfolk County Emergency Response Plan

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:
  • Four Year Honours Degree in a related discipline (Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services)
  • A minimum of three years of directly related work experience, with emphasis on supervisory responsibility

Skills and Abilities:

  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle as travel is required
  • Computer expertise must be able to apply basic functions of Corporate standard software and have a general knowledge of department-specific software utilized by the Division
  • Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Benefits

Status: Temporary Full Time (date of hire until approximately December 24, 2021)

Employee Group: Non-Union

Salary: $80,326 - $100,409 per annum

Division: Health amp; Social Services

Department: Social Services and Housing

Reports To: Acting Director, Social Services amp; Housing

Location: Simcoe, ON (remote work and travel as needed)
