We’re looking for a Director of Communications to lead the communications function at Wealthsimple by managing a team of specialists, while providing strategic guidance and tactical execution on various needs across the company from client-facing communications to media relations and crisis management. The key responsibility of this role is to further a positive narrative and reputation for the company, brand and products. This role will be covering for a parental leave until February 2022, with the option to stay on to support a growing team!In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
  • Own the communications function at Wealthsimple
  • Lead a small but mighty communications team, including managers who lead: Internal communications, Social media strategy, and Investor and client education content
  • Advise leaders across the company on communications strategy, and represent the communications team at the executive level
  • Own and manage Wealthsimple’s media relations strategy
  • Provide strategic crisis management on sensitive issues
  • Work collaboratively across teams within leadership, marketing, client success, investment research, product, and more to drive business goals
We're looking for someone who:
  • Brings 8+ years of experience in a communications role coupled with experience leading and building teams
  • Is an independent self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can handle uncertainty, rapid change and shifting priorities
  • Has exceptional writing skills
  • Brings experience in investor communications, financial services and/or at a growth-stage company (an asset)
