We’re looking for a Communications Director to help us build and maintain our reputation with external stakeholder groups. Reporting to the VP, Marketing, you will lead a team of communications professionals, and be a key member of the marketing leadership team at Article. Your team will oversee Article public relations, organic social media, and advocacy/influencer programs.
You will significantly contribute to the success of Article by:
- Developing and executing an external communications strategy that positions Article as the easiest way to create beautiful modern spaces.
- Creating and delivering a continuous improvement agenda for our communications programs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Taking responsibility for the creation and delivery of the Article external communications plan
- Leading our communications team of seven, overseeing the public relations, organic social media, and advocacy/influencer programs at Article
- Hiring, managing, coaching, and developing communications team members
- Working directly with colleagues across the organization to develop and tell stories that reinforce and enhance our brand positioning
- Challenging your team and others to do it differently
- Ensuring quality and consistency of our public messaging
- Manage external communications vendor relationships
- Working with our internal communications team to ensure alignment
- Managing our brand reputation in public forums
- Leading crisis communications response
- Reporting on the performance of our communications programs against your plan
Requirements
- 10+ years of communications experience
- 5+ years experience in a people management role, hiring, managing, and developing communications team members
- Advanced degree in communications, marketing, or related field, or an equivalent amount of relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to create, execute, and report on a comprehensive communications plan
- Experience running communications campaigns in the US and Canada
- Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication
- An ownership mindset: comfortable taking responsibility and accountability for the successful delivery of communications programs.
