Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Applications, the Manager, Corporate Applications will be responsible for managing the Corporate applications portfolio, both on premise and in the cloud. The Manager will oversee the work of the Corporate Applications Team and will be responsible for successful delivery of application selection, implementation, maintenance and support. The Manager will work closely with the ePMO in the application selection process and be the primary Information amp; Technology Services (ITS) manager responsible for successful delivery of new corporate applications. The Manager will also provide direction in operational projects and the creation and execution of support and maintenance practices. The Manager will lead the establishment of the annual work plan, allocate and oversee resources, manage vendors, and maintain application roadmaps to ensure application currency and to inform future planning. The Manager will be the key player in leading the modernization of legacy Corporate applications to support multiyear Digital Strategy, and will ensure application portfolio alignment with key operational processes to enable successful service delivery.


DUTIES:

Applications Selection and Implementation

  • Directs the process and reviews content of business cases, opportunity requests, project charters, and budgets.
  • Provides direction regarding key application decisions for vendor selection, solution architecture requirements, business/technical analysis and workflow mapping, testing, implementation, and transition to operations.
  • Manages selected vendor(s), Application Specialist staff, Leads, and Testing resources assigned to projects, while adhering to ePMO methodology and documentation processes to ensure successful transition to operational support.
  • Leverages emerging technologies, processes, and disciplines to deliver best in class, scalable applications.
  • Provides direction on assigned projects and ensures application teams’ deliverables are on time and of the highest quality.
  • Works closely with Enterprise Technology, Architecture and Security teams to ensure application design is aligned with architecture and security standards, with a focus on integration.

Applications Management and Support

  • Provides direction on escalations for operational issues, problems, and service requests.
  • Oversees the work portfolio, including incident amp; request management and approved yearly operational projects. Provides direction on reprioritization of the work efficiently based on changing business directions.
  • Provides direction on and overall accountability for successful delivery for the approved operational projects.
  • Oversees planning and upkeep of all technical environments for the corporate applications portfolio.
  • Leads business/stakeholder service review meetings to ensure service levels, enhancements and roadmaps are aligned with business needs.
  • Leads engagements between Enterprise Applications, Enterprise Technology, QA and business stakeholders to ensure currency of solutions and execution of planned upgrades.
  • Leads complex application problems requiring multi-department and/or vendor involvement, takes accountability for issue resolution and promotes root-cause analysis and permanent fix approach.
  • Ensures all application changes are thoroughly tested and implemented into production following the ITS change management process, as well as the creation and maintenance of quality support documentation.
  • Leads yearly review of Corporate Application portfolio, as part of Application Life Cycle management, to identify end-of-life applications, required upgrades, replacements, consolidation opportunities, etc.
  • Provides input to the yearly business planning process and future potential projects.
  • Has accountability for applicable vendor relationships and ensures SLAs are met, provides input to yearly budgetary process.
  • Oversees risk management practices.
  • Defines business continuity, capacity management, and disaster recovery plans for area of responsibility.
  • Oversees operational activities to ensure compliance with enterprise, industry, and government standards and practices.
  • Ensures there is automated and continuous evaluation of system performance by monitoring and measuring availability and overall system health
  • Ensures achievement of key performance indicators and develops improvement plans if required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.


People Leadership

  • Hires new staff, transfers, promotes, approves wage increases and conducts performance evaluations.
