Job Description

PressReader is a rapidly growing technology company that partners with the world’s leading publishers to deliver content to millions of users in over 160 countries. Our progressive approach to digital distribution has allowed publishers such as The Washington Post, The Guardian, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, The Globe and Mail, and Vogue to find new audiences through business partnerships, including airlines, hotels, cruise ships, libraries, and thousands of other companies worldwide.

Our technology also powers Branded Editions (BE) - a white-label solution that enables publishers to deliver their digital content in interactive ways. BE allows them to build a customizable platform that supports a wide range of revenue opportunities.

We have a full-time opportunity for an SEO Specialist who has a strong understanding of B2C and B2B performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition.

As part of the Marketing team, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing our SEO strategy, working closely with PressReader's consumer and business growth teams, and with the PressReader Creative Lab to manage the production of the relevant materials. Our online presence is significant for the success of the business, and your position will play a massive role in driving our business' growth and success.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform in-depth SEO analysis, diagnose websites, report issues and make adjustments when needed

  • Perform on-page SEO and off-page SEO (inbound links)
  • Work on SEO tasks including page speed optimization, schema markup, and image optimization
  • Work with the development team to ensure SEO best practices are properly implemented on legacy and in-development websites
  • Work with editorial and marketing teams to drive SEO in content creation and content programming
  • Develop and implement link building strategy

You are a great fit if you have:

  • At least 3-5 years in an SEO role
  • Experience using SEO tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog) and Google products (Google Search Console, Google Analytics)
  • Experience working with JavaScript-heavy web apps and PWAs
  • Expertise in both content-focused and technical SEO
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and related web languages
  • Basic web development knowledge (hosting, domains, FTP and databases)
  • Backlink research and solicitation experience
  • Solid understanding of SEO trends: semantic search, EAT, BERT, rich snippets, voice search
  • Comfortable with data and data analysis
  • Knowledge of ranking factors and search engine algorithms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills
  • Always maintain a positive, can-do attitude and have a sense of humor
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO and SEM

Bonus points if you:

  • Have experience practicing SEO on large websites (e.g. 1M+ pages)
  • Have ASO (app store optimization) experience
  • Have experience working with enterprise grade SEO/ASO tools like Botify, DeepCrawl and AppAnnie
  • Are an avid consumer of news media and believe in the value of journalism
  • Have a strong interest in the technology sector
