Part Time Building Maintenance Technician

We are currently looking for a Building Maintenance Technician who will be reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The Building Maintenance Technician will be responsible for not only the general maintenance of the building (including offices and warehouse), but for the maintenance of various warehouse equipment.

Salary: The starting rate of pay is $22.75/hour but there is some flexibility based on previous experience

Schedule(s) available: To start, we are looking for someone who can work approximately 2 days a week, but the days can be flexible based on the availability of the successful candidate. Based on 2 days of work, it will be around 16-20 hours a week. Please note that this could vary based on the needs of the business. Preference will be towards someone who can work on weekends!

Here are the responsibilities for the role:

  • Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance and maintains records of work completed;
  • Perform duties related to the maintenance of the building, which includes some handyman work (ie. painting, furniture assembly, minor plumbing, replacing lights, etc.);
  • Perform duties related to the maintenance of the motorized equipment, which includes weekly equipment checklists and maintenance;
  • Perform duties related to the maintenance of the fixed equipment, which includes building and repairing conveyor systems, dock doors, racks etc.;
  • Performing daily reports for any situation that he / she considers dangerous for evaluation and any ideas relevant to the improvement of health and safety at work;
  • Actively participate in the improvement of documentation for all maintenance processes.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset;
  • Previous experience in a similar role required (minimum 3-5 years);
  • Relevant certifications are considered a strong asset;
  • Experience in the food or pharmaceutical environment is considered an asset;
  • Must demonstrate initiative, be prepared to work alone and independently and respond to emergency calls;
  • Comfortable regularly lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in a refrigerated environment (0 to 4 degrees).
