Job Summary

The North American Maintenance Excellence Manager is responsible for the proactive development, optimization, and deployment of cost-effective maintenance amp; reliability (Mamp;R) programs, initiatives and standards to support overall IPEX business needs across North America. In addition, the manager is responsible for creating and communicating the vision, strategy and tactical application of Mamp;R management techniques including preventive, predictive, condition based monitoring, and other maintenance management fundamentals.


Principal Responsibilities

  • To develop and execute the strategic direction for Maintenance across IPEX NA
  • Leads and directs Mamp;R programs amp; initiatives to deliver reliable and cost effective equipment performance at predictable Mamp;R costs.
  • Responsible for propagating key Mamp;R learning’s amp; best practices across the enterprise
  • Actively manages NA level Mamp;R key performance indicators (KPI’s) and the processes to report, track, evaluate and leverage at the NA level.
  • Coaches operations leadership and plant Mamp;R personnel in reliability improvement and change management techniques.
  • Advocates continuous improvement and operations excellence culture.
  • Supports the use of the CMMS programs in optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of tracking maintenance labor and materials costs consistent with IPEX standards.
  • Provides expertise, training and coaching in the development of multi-year rolling Maintenance Management Continuous Improvement Plans, three-year Mamp;R Roadmaps, Maintenance Playbook and action plans.
  • Provides Mamp;R leadership and guidance to IPEX NA MRO supply and inventory management initiatives / teams.
  • Fosters the use of Mamp;R best practices, tools, and techniques to enable spare parts needs forecasting and JIT spare parts availability while optimizing overall IPEXN NA costs.
  • Coordinate investigations for customer issues regarding equipment maintenance.
  • Plan, develop and recommend new or revised departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide coaching and leadership for the development of subordinates and peers;
  • Interpret and provide guidance to staff regarding collective agreement;
  • Provides knowledgeable guidance in the application and leveraging of work flow management, VSM, process flow mapping, planning amp; scheduling, PM optimization, FMEA, RCA, RCM, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, iL6S and other data driven process and statistical methods.
  • Ensure continuity across all locations in the areas of building operations and maintenance, grounds keeping, vehicle maintenance, building leases, utility services and maintenance service contracts.
  • Respond to internal and external information requests and the leadership, direction and development of staff
  • Work closely with other Managers on the delivery of Employer initiatives and programs
  • Assists Director in identifying and planning for the acquisition of capital equipment and capital improvements as well as developing strategies for reducing exposure to risks and ensuring the Employer is in compliance with codes/regulations, health and safety requirements, etc.
  • Assists Director in identifying and developing business plans to address plant maintenance and facility renewal for all locations.
  • Utilizes knowledge of technical concepts, methods, and procedures to implement and manage Facilities Maintenance related programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the computerized maintenance management system is being operated and maintained efficiently and effectively.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent Maintenance experience
  • 10 years minimum Mamp;R / technical management experience
  • 5 years of management responsibility in manufacturing or maintenance environment
  • Good knowledge of preventative maintenance, work order and scheduling techniques
  • Experience leading cross functional initiatives across multiple plants / businesses
  • Experience as Maintenance / Engineering Manager in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Experience with SAP PM amp; MM
  • Experience in both union and non-union environments preferred
  • Experience implementing improvement strategies across multiple plants / businesses preferred
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff
  • Excellent communication, influence and change management skills
