The Payroll Specialist proactively performs a variety of activities of moderate to high complexity within Payroll/ERP Systems that contribute to the development and support of various databases (with a focus on Payroll) in the areas of design, testing, implementations, upgrades, disaster recovery and day to day payroll operations. The team member is relied upon to apply well rounded expertise and sound judgment and insights and to provide input and guidance on various Payroll. The incumbent may complete specialized project work within People amp; Culture and provide technical expertise depending on what initiative is priority.


Accountabilities:

  • Focuses primarily on the overall performance and health of systems of moderate to high complexity within the following areas:
    • HRIS, Payroll, Workforce Software
  • The incumbent ensures stability, reliability and full functionality within area of responsibility (HRIS, Payroll, Time and Attendance):
    • Provide operational support to end users in the utilization of the Payroll/Time amp; Attendance applications to ensure a seamless user experience.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical Payroll issues as identified and brought forward by end users.
    • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with various stakeholders by providing outstanding customer service between ATB business units, Information Technology, Finance, external vendors.
    • Implement solutions including planning and execution of system and user acceptance testing with a focus on Payroll
    • Maintenance of Payroll/Time amp; Attendance to ensure compliance, efficiencies, and to ensure that software is up to date.
    • Coordinate testing of tax updates, patches, bundles, upgrades, and new SuccessFactors modules with the partnership of the Payroll team.
    • Keeping up to date with Payroll Legislation to ensure compliance on the part of ATB Financial.
    • Keeping up to date with changes in the Payroll, ERP, SAP, and SuccessFactors landscape to ensure ATB is aware of the latest changes and trends in the industry and to mitigate issues that may arise with future changes.
  • Has in-depth understanding of the end user in all scenarios and can identify business requirements when completing a project or initiative
  • Has accountability for identifying and addressing potential risks or areas for improvement.
  • Maintains standards and operating procedures.
    • Develop and deliver end-user references and pertinent training materials; compile documentation and user manuals related to system set-up and related processes
  • Installs, configures and updates systems of moderate to high complexity when required including system refreshes
  • Recognizes, troubleshoots and resolves problems proactively and during incidents and is able to pivot on objectives when required.
    • Research Payroll/Time and Attendance application issues, engaging internal and external resources as required for resolution and escalating system and operational problems as required, with a focus on ensuring that root causes of problems are determined
  • Oversees the creation, management and monitoring of the system; completes data loads and mass data updates of high complexity and is able to partner with various stakeholders
  • Develop and manage customized reports and dashboards with complex requirements when required
  • Supports functional and technical support teams with problem resolution, system modification design and implementation activities of high complexity when required

  • May lead various system findings, enhancements and or initiatives within team and Pamp;C and is able to see the big picture
