THE COMPANY

At Anthratech Western Inc. (AWI) we provide water treatment solutions for industrial and municipal water and wastewater treatment plants in Canada, the United States and select international markets. AWI is privately owned, with our head office and research and development facility located in Calgary, Alberta.


THE POSITION FIELD SERVICES TECHNICIAN

AWI’s Field Services Technician is responsible for supervising, directing and assisting contractor crews with the installation of AWI supplied equipment and components. Travel to water treatment plants across Canada is required. The successful candidate will maintain a high level of quality while working independently and unsupervised.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicating clearly with onsite clients to define and coordinate responsibilities and scope of work.
  • Supervising, directing and assisting contractor labour crews with assembly and installation of custom-engineered water filtration equipment and filter media.
  • Working in confined spaces.
  • Inspection of installed components for adherence to AWI Filter Equipment Quality Control Standards.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving installation issues as required.
  • Commissioning filtration equipment, including collection of data using flow and pressure measurement equipment.
  • Documenting project progress as per AWI standards, including daily site logs, safety documentation, as-built drawings, testing reports and photo records.
  • Compliance with site safety requirements and Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
  • When not on a project site, responsibilities at the AWI Calgary office/warehouse will include: assistance with research and development projects, maintenance of equipment, building maintenance, attendance at project kick-off, close-out and general team meetings.
  • Supporting coworkers through collaboration, cross training and information sharing.

Hours of work:

  • Standard hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Hours may vary depending on job site requirements.
  • Regular and often extended travel to various project sites across Canada is required. Weekend work required occasionally.
  • Must be flexible to accommodate changing construction schedules.

Candidates considered for this position must pass AWI’s background check and screening process. Drug and alcohol screening is required prior to hiring and prior to attendance at certain worksites.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Millwright or Plumber/Pipefitter with minimum 3 years Journeyman experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s license and the ability to rent a vehicle when required.
  • Experience with water filtration processes an asset.
  • Supervisory experience an asset.

Personal and professional skills:

  • Ability to confidently supervise contractor labour crews and develop respectful working relationships with onsite stakeholders.
  • Technical aptitude and comprehension of complex mechanical systems.
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills to assess data quickly and accurately.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with exceptional organization skills.
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional and safety-conscious manner at all project sites.
  • Physical strength (ability to lift 50 lbs.) and stamina.
