Job Description

Are you looking for an exciting and rewarding payroll opportunity?

In this role reporting to the Payroll amp; Benefits Manager, you will provide full-cycle bi-weekly payroll service, including payroll related remittances and reconciliations involving numerous separate payrolls, both union and non-union, for a combined total of approximately 1100 employees. Experience processing payroll for multiple manufacturing locations a must!


  • Process multi-jurisdictional hourly Canadian payrolls in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with company and government policies, terms and regulations using Dayforce and Workday.
  • Upload data via Kronos, MS Excel or manual data entry
  • Prepare month end journal entries and remittances
  • Frequent data integrity checks of existing payroll information
  • Set-up new employees and process terminations
  • Administer, remit 3rd party payments; RRSP, WSIB, WCB, CSST and garnishments ensuring legislated filings and reporting is completed within established timelines.
  • Issue off-cycle payments and prepare ad-hoc reports as the need arises
  • Verify and reconcile vendor invoices and issue payment requests to Finance
  • Collaborate with other members of the HR Department to investigate and resolve issues
  • Participate in process and procedures improvement for the payroll department and ensure documentation is updated regularly
  • Point of contact for employee related payroll issues
  • Conduct data cleanup and key manual data as required

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent partnered with a minimum 5+ Years of payroll experience in a manufacturing, unionized environment
  • Previous experience using Ceridian software
  • Canadian Payroll Certification
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Sophisticated proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Validated analytical and decision making skills, good judgment, and the ability to optimally prioritize competing tasks
  • Ability to work independently
