Job Summary

The Regional Distribution Manager (RDM) works in collaboration with other departments to ensure that IPEX properly responds to the needs of our customers. The RDM’s are responsible for the overall performance of the IPEX Distribution network in Canada and the United States, which consists of 26 Distribution Centres (DC). The RDM is also in charge of an operating budget that varies on the size of the DC’s in their region. The RDM ensures that every DC complies with the Supply Chain Program, the HR’s best practices and the Hamp;S procedures, and any other internal policies linked to Distribution. The RDM also maintains communication with, and visits, all DCs on a regular basis.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Accountable for all aspects of Distribution to ensure that IPEX can properly service its business in a safe and economic manner.
    • Review established KPI’s to measure productivity, turn around time of orders and transfers, receiving time of incoming material (purchase orders and returns) and budget compliance. Promote and manage change and improvement.
    • Reviews performances of all DCs in the region and puts action plans together in collaboration with the Distribution Centre Managers (DCM).
    • Works closely with Customer Service Managers as well as Sales Managers across the company to monitor service levels and address issues on a timely basis.
    • Ensure that the DC follows all internal practices such as, but not limited to, the TMS, CT-PAT program, ISMS, company standards, etc.
    • Ensure proper training of employees according to internal standards and provincial/state laws and regulations specific to the industry.
  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement processes and culture at both the Regional and Local levels.
    • High focus on Standardization of roles, forms, etc throughout the Distribution network.
    • Actively promotes and participates in Lean principles of Operations.
  • Actively involved in the different aspects of Human Resources Management, such as performance appraisals, recruitment, payroll communication, negotiation of collective agreements, annual salary reviews, labour relations, training, and more.
  • Ensures corporate Health and Safety as well as environmental requirements are met (i.e. Volume 1) in collaboration with the Health amp; Safety - Environment department.
    • Reviews SOPs on specific processes unique to Distribution. Make recommendations for improvement or updates as required.
    • Reviews accident investigation reports in the region to ensure corrective actions are put in place when needed.
    • Works closely with the HS Department to ensure that dangerous goods are stored and handled according to the different legislations in place in Canada and the US.
  • Manages the physical aspects of the DCs as well as the assets and inventory.
  • Coordinates the development of the DRP module within our operating system (Infoflo) as well as other systems such as RF.
  • Interacts with both the Finance and the Accounting Departments to provide them with information they require.
    • Oversee purchases and repairs related to the DC and approve high cost items through the accounting approval process.
    • Reviews and makes recommendations during the annual preparation of the company budget
    • Is responsible to collect, organise and provide input on the annual CAPEX (Capital Expenditures)
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Assists with strategic decisions about inventory storage taking into account the different markets, the needs of our customers and the cost of carrying inventory.
  • Negotiates service contract with Logistics companies / public warehouses when variations in inventory requires the temporary addition of storage capacity.
  • Works closely with Finance for the planning of the annual physical inventory. Measures and provides feedback analysis on inventory management.

Requirements

Qualifications amp; experience

  • Completion of a college diploma in a related field
  • 10 or more years of experience in distribution or equivalent work experience in Production or Logist
