The Opportunity
The Interior Designer will be responsible for supporting the design of new, modern workspace throughout all phases of the design process from concept design to space planning and furniture selection. The portfolio of projects to be supported will range from designs for new facilities, to the revitalization of existing spaces within heritage buildings.
Your Day to Day:
- Review and document client interior design requirements;
- Assess space function and people flow to create a design for a usable and efficient space;
- Develop space plans and design concepts to outline design intent;
- Support the development of functional programs;
- Select materials and furnishings, such as lighting, furniture and finishes;
- Develop final designs in AutoCAD;
- Coordinate the development of construction drawings;
- Coordinate tender review, site instructions, change orders, change logs etc.;
- Attend construction meetings and complete walk through to ensure projects are progressing as scheduled; and
- Oversee the installation of the design elements, responding to design changes/modifications as required.
Requirements
The Experience you Bring:
- Degree/diploma in Interior Design;
- Three (3) years of experience working as an Interior Designer;
- Experience with AutoCAD to develop drawings;
- Knowledge of aspects of interior fit-up, including building code requirements, material and finish selection amp; specification, construction methodologies, M/E, IT and furniture systems;
- Experience working in high security environments;
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications; and
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a relevant federal government security clearance.
