The Position

The Educational Sales Representative will be a member of a high performing National Sales Team. The key mandate for this position is to develop and implement a strategic sales plan, exceed sales targets and drive market share growth.

In this role, the Educational Sales Representative is assisting the educator with the transformation of learning at home, classroom and district school board.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning

  • Strong business planning and prospecting abilities
  • Ability to analyze sales data to identify highest revenue opportunities in the territory
  • Manage budgets for designated sales territory
  • Plan and execute purposeful strategic outreach to Nelson subscription holders to ensure success criteria are achieved and maintained to secure renewals and expansions.
  • Understand external factors that impact success in the territory and leverage market and industry trends to drive results.

Sales Process

  • Grow sales by meeting / exceeding sales targets
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to problem solve.
  • Pre-call Planning and The Call Process will follow The Consultative Sales Approach.
  • Understand and can use Nelsons systems to plan and track business opportunities.
  • Be organized and follow up promptly

Communication

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive, collaborative, and team-based culture by working with the cross-functional team to achieve goals.
  • Establish and maintain positive customer relationships at all levels including provincial, district and school.
  • During COVID-19, sell and present Nelson digital and print solutions over the phone, through virtual meetings, in written communication. Once schools open, the majority of the sales business will be in person, on-site with educators throughout the territory.

Product and Solutions Expertise

  • Maintain product knowledge of Nelsons Print and digital resources.
  • Drive awareness of Nelson print and digital resources in the defined territory
  • Excellent presentation skills- competently link resource features to specific benefits that solution educational needs
  • Online literacy, experience and aptitude to work with new technologies.

Specifications

  • Ability to work Independently
  • Physical lifting required daily

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel
  • Required to travel to national sales meetings twice per year and attend customer events.

Experience and Education

  • University degree
  • Track record of achieving and exceeding goals.
  • High level of business acumen required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
  • Excellent Microsoft Skills
  • Proficient with online presentation tools
  • Previous K-12 experience is an asset
