The Opportunity:

We are looking for an Investment Advisor to join our CU Wealth team. Reporting to Director, Transitions and Advisor Onboarding, the Investment Advisor is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, providing financial advice and services to meet their financial planning needs to provide first-class strategic wealth management services to our clients.

What your day looks like:

  • Maintains strong client relationships through regular contact and providing timely, value-added information, advice, and recommendations
  • Interviews clients to analyze and understand the client’s overall situation to determine their goals and risk tolerance
  • Recommends investment solutions to meet clients’ short term needs as well as longer term plan and goals, based on current situation, risk profile, time horizon, etc.
  • Uses financial planning tools and data to develop plans and recommendations to meet the clients’ investing/financial planning goals and collaborates with other specialists to ensure clients/members are receiving comprehensive financial planning
  • Develops and executes an annual business development plan that includes techniques and methods for managing orphaned accounts, reducing overall risk and meeting regulatory requirements
  • Supports Operations with debits and transfer outs and execute trades daily for MFDA advisors’ business to ensure Aviso is not at risk of failing to meet its regulatory requirements
  • Supports Credit Union partners in licensed functions such as advisor offboarding books, advisor absences, questions, etc.
  • Supporting credit unions nationally by managing their book of business for a long period of time (due to advisor changes) until returned to the credit union
  • Providing full across the book/business advisor coverage when IIROC advisor is away
  • Executing daily trades for IIROC clients where CU advisors have not acted on due to various reasons
  • Meets all regulatory requirements in day-to-day activities ensuring compliance with all FW audit/risk management policies and procedures, including applicable external agency/vendor/government regulatory requirements and standards
  • Acting on all client inquiries, such as financial requests on IIROC and non-financial updates on MFDA , such as address changes, beneficiary updates, estate settlement documentation, unlocking documentation and updating corporate accounts
  • Maintains expert level knowledge of estate planning, power of attorney, wills, family trusts, insurance, and tax, to discuss with clients and engage or refer them to the appropriate specialists
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of all relevant issues of compliance and the relevant policies and procedures of regulatory and government agencies and participates in branch audits as required

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in finance or economics
  • MFDA license is required
  • CFP designation must be completed within 24 months
  • Working towards CFA and CIM designations
  • Life insurance license is an asset
