BURNCO Rock Products is hiring a qualified Ready-MixDispatcher for our Edmonton operations. Reporting to our Edmonton Area Operations Supervisor you will monitor all daily orders, effectively dispatching deliveries to provide customers with the best service possible. In the process you will verify that the proper mix design is given to ensure maximum value as well as working with customers and the sales team to optimize delivery and plant utilization. You will achieve these objectives by having a clear understanding of the needs of the customers, operational capability of production facilities, logistics capabilities of the mobile fleet and availability of professional ready-mix drivers.

When applying, we will be looking for your familiarity with the Command Dispatch System, strong communication skills, key knowledge in concrete quality and value-added offerings.

This is a full-time, hourly position in an extremely high-paced environment that will require overtime shifts and some weekend work from time-to-time.

What you will be doing:

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Dispatching

  • Schedule trucks to maximize time efficiently and effectively
  • Ensures that drivers are informed of any additives such as fibre, colour, etc
  • Aids drivers in locating job sites if they are having problems
  • Contacts customers when concrete delivery is not on schedule
  • Work with customers, sales people and operations to optimize delivery and plant utilization
  • Ensure that orders are delivered out of the most cost-effective plant to ensure the best returns for BURNCO
  • Work with Maintenance supervisor coordinating truck repairs and servicing

Order Taking

  • Ensure the most cost-effective mixes are used and pulled from job project approved mixes
  • Checks mix design with customer to ensure that there are no errors
  • Quotes prices for COD customers
  • Ensure that value added products and premium services are offered on all orders taken
  • Ensure that all extra charges (premium services) are documented and passed on for billing (Overtime, order cancellation, standby, etc.)

Customer Relations

  • Answers telephone in a polite and friendly manner
  • Documents all customer complaints for both product and drivers, and handles complaints expeditiously
  • Maintains a good Company image for service and quality

Employee Relations

  • Ensures that work place is neat, clean and well-maintained
  • Contributes to a positive work environment
  • Cooperates and works with other Departments and Divisions in BURNCO
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in the process of discipline
  • Training of all new personnel in dispatch office, dispatch, batch, order taker
  • Work with operations and sales personnel relating to deliveries, reclaimed concrete and staffing

Operations

  • Assist Supervisors in the process of discipline
  • Attend staff meetings as required, and report on operational activities and make suggestions for overall utilization improvements
  • Assist and guide all operational staff, Batchman, order takers, Quality Control and shop staff to effectively organize their day
  • Assist the Operations Supervisor in other areas as required

Requirements

What we would like from you:

Education

  • High School Diploma or Post-Secondary Degree

Experience amp; Abilities

  • Dispatching experience in the concrete or related industry would be preferred
  • Considerable knowledge in concrete pricing, value added products and premium services as well as the ability to work with Sales to promote them
  • Considerable knowledge of concrete technology
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidential information regarding proprietary mix designs and contract pricing
  • General knowle
