Job Description

The mechanical designer in charge of Lighting and Body Systems is detail-oriented and a master of CAD and system integration. They will work closely with industrial designers to design functional and aesthetic parts amp; assemblies for Taiga's groundbreaking electric snowmobile products.

Responsibilities

  • Using CAD tools to design functional elements into aesthetic parts, including but not limited to:
    • Lighting systems and adjacent body panels
    • Bodywork fasteners and fastening features
  • Working with industrial designers and surfacers to define exterior aesthetic surfaces that meet packaging amp; functional requirements
  • Design-for-manufacture (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) of lighting and body systems parts
  • Optimizing part amp; assembly designs for optimal user ergonomics, minimal cost and weight
  • Performing basic part analysis and simulation including stress analysis and manufacturability analysis
  • Prototyping parts and evaluating prototype performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 3-4 years' experience in a related field (automotive, powersports) having designed and protyped lightning systems
  • Strong design-for-manufacture skills, particularly involving plastic injection molding and thermoforming
  • Strong 3D CAD skills, including some experience in surfacing
  • Solid base of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, including: Fastener design amp; specification, stress analysis, materials science
  • Self-motivated, excellent organization skills, ability to communicate clearly and interact with team members of various disciplines and specializations
