Job Description

Vulcraft Canada, the local division of the largest joist and deck manufacturer, supplies quality products, on-time deliveries, as well as a breadth of offerings and innovative solutions to the steel construction industry. With manufacturing locations in Ancaster, Ontario, and Nisku, Alberta, Vulcraft plants are strategically located to serve customers across the Canadian market.
We are a young Canadian NUCOR Vulcraft division. The safety of our team is our top priority. We manufacture open web steel joists and steel decking. We are looking to add Production Welders who are driven, hardworking individuals who are looking to join a team atmosphere. We are willing to train the right candidates. CWB GMAW Flat certification Required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform various fit up and tacking operations on a variety of structural assemblies
- Interpret weld symbols and follow weld procedures
- Adding stiffeners, brackets, face plates, etc. using shop orders for location prior to finish welding
- Perform production GMAW operations on a variety of plate, bars, channel and related materials working off shop orders and/or verbal instructions
- Setting welding machine to assure uniform bead, adequate penetration with minimum wrap
- Utilizing cutting torch as required
- Performing cleaning operations when required using chipping hammer or grinder to remove burn-through and spatter
- Utilize overhead crane to lift within capacity of crane
- Maintaining work area and equipment in a clean an orderly condition
- Perform tasks as required by Supervisor
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Must have basic math skills to calculate measurements
- CWB certification in GMAW is considered an asset
- Prior experience in the steel industry is considered an asset
COMPENSATION
Salary: $30.43 per hour (Average wage including production bonus)
