Job Summary
Plans, coordinates and directs quality assurance activities for Quality Assurance Technicians designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established company and agency standards, as well as enable company growth in the areas of sales and profit.
Principal Responsibilities
- Supervises/directs Quality Assurance Technicians and Inspector’s daily activities, vacation scheduling, Kronos administration, one-on-ones, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Training and assessing the capability of hourly Quality Technicians, Inspectors, maintaining the training matrix, and developing robust training programs.
- Coordinate NCR activities, ensures accuracy of NCR information, determine dispositions, maintain log of open NCR’s for action and closure responsibilities, reporting on non-conforming material metrics, this could include sort activities for customer complaints or recalls.
- Inspire a positive atmosphere of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and sense of purpose in the lab and amongst the technicians.
- Coordinates and is able to perform tests on manufactured products ensuring that they meet all company and agency standards as required.
- Issue and track quality alerts, and single point lessons, maintain a log of signed off alerts and provide samples and instruction as necessary.
- Ensures that MES/or other software programs are updated as required and information recorded correctly and in a timely fashion by quality personnel.
- Maintain quality records both hard copy and soft copy as necessary.
- Review, update, and develop new test methods instructions as required.
- Label printer trouble shooting, arrange repairs, and administration of label printing program and software
- Maintains inventories of labels and other consumable used in the lab to ensure stock levels are maintained at acceptable levels.
- Assists as necessary during outside agency audits and inspections, or witness testing as required.
- Assists in the investigation of customer complaints through testing or measuring samples as required.
- Member of the internal audit team and auditor.
- Develop and promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement within the QA lab as well as on the plant floor.
- Maintain a clean and organized (5S) QA lab and testing facilities, and equipment.
- Maintain lab equipment functionality, arrange for repairs as required (test equipment, printers, lighting, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications amp; Experience
- Minimum community college diploma or certificate (university preferred)
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience or training preferably in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO standards and procedures.
- Certification through ASQ (CQT or CQI)
- Formal training in the area of quality assurance or over 3 years of QA experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally in an injection moulding facility)
- Continuous improvement mindset.
