We are expanding our Engineering team and are looking for an outstanding Front-End Software Developer. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our team is working remotely with the flexibility to remain remote once we are safely able to return to office. Our head office is located in Cambridge, Ontario, minutes from the 401 and near the centre of the Toronto-Waterloo Technology Corridor.
What you’ll do
- Write high quality, maintainable JavaScript code using supported frameworks, libraries and best practices
- Work closely with product owner(s) and team lead(s) to ensure delivery meets user requirements
- Collaborate with other team members on product and process improvements
- Collaborate closely with QA to ensure adequate integration test coverage
- Stay abreast of relevant technology changes
- Develop your own unique areas of expertise and apply them in a way that contributes to team success
- Implement and deploy working software in an iterative manner
- Practice strong code and configuration management techniques
- Use sound judgement to make well-reasoned decisions and tradeoffs when necessary
- Contribute wherever you can to help the team meet its commitments
- Write unit tests to ensure high level of coverage on new code and to facilitate continuous agile code refactoring
- Support the tools and products that the team delivers
- Learn, teach, communicate, and collaborate every day
What you'll bring
- A minimum of 2 years of professional front-end web application development experience
- Solid experience implementing production quality JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Solid experience with UI pattern libraries/UI component development/UI plug-ins
- Strong understanding of User Experience and Usability standards and best practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
Extra credit
- Experience building one or more single page web applications
- Experience delivering highly scalable, enterprise web applications
- Familiarity with JSON, AJAX, jQuery, REST, Node.js
- Familiarity with open source frameworks such as React, Backbone.js, Angular JS, require.js
- Familiarity with front-end build tools such as Gulp, Grunt, WebPack, Browserify
- Familiarity with TDD using Jasmine, Mocha, Karma, Selenium
- Familiarity with DOM manipulation using JavaScript
- Familiarity with Git
- Familiarity with .NET, C#, SQL Server, Visual Studio
- Familiarity with Continuous Delivery concepts
- Familiarity with Agile development practices
- Familiarity with Scrum and/or Kanban
- Familiarity with IP technology including Billing, VoIP, Wireless, Hosted Communications, M2M
