As ATB’s next Director, Business Development you will be in a highly proactive sales role that is responsible for actively seeking out and finding net new relationships within their designated markets. This position is responsible for creating a strong network of contacts from which a variety of new business can be obtained directly, or through a series of referrals.

The scope of the Director Business Development is to seek out and create new relationships within their designated region. To ensure the relationship is well established the Director Business Development (DBD) will be the initial contact then hand the new relationship off to a designated Relationship Manager. The main objective of the DBD is to secure new relationships.

Requirements

Director, Business Development Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to creating a positive team experience in the branch and/or corporate office by building relationships with both ATB Business associates and associates in other lines of business. This is accomplished by participating in team meetings, conducting joint sales calls, referring business/prospects to others lines of business and by maintaining a collaborative presence in your market.
  • Anticipate amp; understand the needs of the Business customers and exceed those expectations.
  • Knowledge of the customer and the ability to analyze and provide value added advice.
  • Participate in community events to build strong relationships with existing and potential new customers.
  • Maintain an extensive and active network of business, personal and professional contacts from which business referrals and sales opportunities are received.
  • Collaborate with associates to grow their portfolios and develop a pipeline of new loan and deposit business.
  • Refer sales opportunities across all lines of business.
  • Has thorough understanding of business issues, processes and outcomes in order to make sound decisions.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and the factors that contribute to risk.
  • An ability to mitigate risk by evaluating the potential impact of problems, solutions and options.
  • Assess environmental and market risk as it relates to specialized lending.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a senior sales role.
  • Proven network of business, personal and professional contacts.
  • Proven ability to generate new business and meet high growth targets.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Strong knowledge of business banking lending policies and products.
  • Thorough understanding of credit marketplace.
  • Proven entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Confident, tactful and a persuasive manner.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Post secondary education in business or related equivalent experience.
  • ATB sales training and sales management courses or equivalent.
