BURNCO has an exciting and challenging new opportunity for a Sourcing amp; Procurement Specialist. At BURNCO, the Sourcing amp; Procurement Specialist will implement and manage sourcing and procurement strategies for services, products and other purchased materials in accordance with BURNCO policies and procedures. Your professional experiences in the construction industry in Canada and the US would really be of value as you develop relationships with key stakeholders in the business to understand their purchasing requirements. As Sourcing amp; Procurement Specialist you will leverage those relationships to create RFx, agreements, catalogs and purchasing documents in BURNCO’s systems to fulfill those requirements. You will be busy and you will be challenged to ensure we have and maintain an effective buying program. You will do that by also being responsible for monitoring and managing the documents and supplier relationships throughout their lifecycle. And finally, under the guidance of BURNCO's SCM Manager, the Sourcing amp; Procurement Specialist has accountability and responsibilities which align to corporate goals and objectives regarding customer service, quality, cost, inventory management, and on time delivery.

Where You Will Be Working

  • Out of our corporate offices in Calgary with limited warehouse, yard exposure

What You'll Be Doing

  • Sourcing, buying and expediting of goods and services
  • Analyze and evaluate materials and products and identify suitable suppliers and distributors
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine sourcing and purchasing requirements
  • Create and maintain purchasing orders, and manage orders through their lifecycle
  • Administer supplier performance reviews and facilitate corrective action as required
  • Coordinate with suppliers to maintain knowledge on all products and programs. Keep up to date records on supplier contact information, price lists, discontinued items etc.
  • Prepare analysis of material costs including how freight and brokerage influences overall
  • Maintain spend reports, evaluate issues, prepare data reports for SCM Manager and manage buying trends
  • Identify areas of opportunity for cost savings and process improvement
  • Conduct market research and forecasting duties to coordinate the development of short and long term purchasing strategies
  • Meet in person with current and potential stakeholders to establish and maintain effective market relationships
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Manager

Requirements

What We Would Like From You

  • Minimum 3-5 years procurement experience (preferably with materials such as sand, aggregate, Fly Ash, KIM, ice, etc. used in infrastructure construction and landscaping environments)
  • Completion of or enrollment in Supply Chain or SCMP program
  • Thorough understanding and professional experience sourcing and negotiating agreements, managing purchase orders and with end to end source to pay processes
  • Understanding and professional experience with inventory and logistics management would be an asset
  • Excellent negotiation, customer service and consulting skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong market knowledge and experience working across various functions, businesses and regions
  • Effective problem solving techniques and analytical thinking
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP
