We are currently looking experienced Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technicians to join our growing Operations team. If you have experience in the food manufacturing industry and have a passion for Food Safety, this is a great opportunity for you to apply your knowledge and develop new skills in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Schedule*:

  • Day shift from 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Overnight shift from 8:00pm to 6:00am

* Note that this position requires flexibility

Here are the responsibilities associated to this role:

  • Monitor procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices, correct, coach staff and create score cards;
  • Perform regular product inspections (Meat, poultry, seafood and fresh produce) on the production line to ensure quality and food safety standards are met;
  • Proactively identifying non-conformances against and/or improvements to plant programs;
  • Calibration and maintaining departmental test equipment (eg. scales, thermometers);
  • Accurate generation and follow-up of Deviation reports and Corrective Action reports;
  • Facilitating and/or enforcing product quarantine management as required;
  • Perform receiving inspections and communicate any deviations in quality standards to concerned teams;
  • Inspect label compliance of products on the line and in stock;
  • Providing training, support and coaching to hourly and salaried employees to facilitate FSQA practices and procedures;
  • Perform root cause analysis on customer complaints;
  • Create NCRs and follow up with suppliers for corrective/preventive actions and maintain records;
  • Tracking and trending data trends;
  • Monitor cooler and Freezer temperatures, communicate and take necessary action when deviations are identified;
  • Other departmental tasks as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience in Food Safety/Quality Assurance (Meat and Poultry experience is an asset);
  • College degree in a related field (e.g.: food science, microbiology, industrial processes, or any relevant field);
  • Knowledge of food safety systems and regulations (an asset);
  • Quantitative and analytical experience must have proficiency using MS Excel and G-Suite Apps;
  • Proactive, ambitious, and assertive: you think beyond the scope of a given assignment;
  • Time Management: Understand process flow and prioritize accordingly;
  • Self-Motivated and resourceful;
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness;
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (0-4 degrees).
