Mission Association of Seniors Housing

Mission Association of Seniors Housing (M.A.S.H.) was established in 1999 and is an organization that is made up of several non-profits in Mission that are concerned about the lack of affordable housing for seniors in the community. M.A.S.H. currently owns and operates two properties The Cedars, which has 58 assisted and supported living suites; and Cedar Valley Manor, which is a life lease property. In addition, M.A.S.H. also provides administration and property management for Welton towers, which has 60 studio suites and is owned by a partner member Mission and District Senior Citizens Housing Association. Boswyck Centre is the newest property that is a partnership with the Mission Seniors Centre Association and BC Housing, which will be managed by M.A.S.H. This property will be opening in May 2021 and includes a senior’s community centre and 75 units of subsidized housing.


Executive Director

The current Executive Director (ED) has been with the organization for 12 years and is retiring on June 4, 2021. The Board is seeking an Executive Director with proven leadership skills, preferably in the senior’s non-profit housing sector with an understanding of assisted living. The ED will be a strong administrator with good financial and business acumen and the ability to develop effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, as well as a passion for seniors.

The ED provides leadership to a core team comprised of a Care Manager, Tenant Services Coordinator, Social Coordinator, Reception/Concierge/Administrator, and part-time bookkeeper. They will also oversee dietary, housekeeping and maintenance services that are provided by an external contractor. There’s a strong sense of family amongst the team and a commitment to providing exceptional service and supporting tenants.

Requirements

The ED reports to the Board and is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to M.A.S.H. in accordance with the overall strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. This includes developing and implementing strategies to further advance the Society’s purpose; providing leadership to the people engaged in the Society’s work; directing and guiding the Society’s activities; analyzing, evaluating and managing organization effectiveness, efficiency and financial performance; directing maintenance of the Society’s properties; and representing M.A.S.H. to regulatory bodies, its residents, the general public, and other external partners. The ED will have a minimum five years of broad senior leadership experience, preferably as an ED in the non-profit sector; experience in property management, social housing, and assisted living; strong financial and business acumen; and experience dealing with a Provincial Health Authority, and a government funder such as BC Housing.
