Job Description

The Lead is responsible for supporting the Manager in delivering one or more project/program/operational plans. The Lead is also responsible for oversight of the delivery of the services to ensure value is being delivered and that there is a focus on continual improvement. As part of this role, the Lead acts as a subject matter expert and may take on more complex work in developing plans and deliverables, deploying resources, and interacting with key internal partners. Subject matter expertise includes but is not limited to analysis, benchmarking and metric development in order to design, develop, test and implement comprehensive business intelligence (BI) solutions.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Data amp; Analytics, and working within a team structure, this position is responsible for:

  • Accountability for the development and execution of the Business Intelligence program
  • Analysing business requirements in order to outline BI solutions, estimate effort and guide the team on delivery
  • Delivering on requests for ad-hoc queries, scorecards, reports and dashboards
  • Designing and guiding development and implementation of BI solutions using standard processes and technologies
  • Informing on a reporting data model, including architecture design of new and existing data sources
  • Building dashboards with varying levels of interactivity
  • Collaborating with other Business Leads in the planning and execution of scorecards and reports
  • Acting as a thought leader in data visualization to build narrative and communicate this to a variety of business users and leaders
  • Planning and leading the automation of a data reporting pipeline
  • Identifying analytical opportunities/solutions to help the increase efficiency
  • Ensuring existing BI tools function properly and supervise and train to ensure adequate knowledge and expertise
  • Supervise and train team members to ensure adequate knowledge and expertise
  • Continually improving data-led decision making for production, quality and reliability
  • Working with business stakeholders on data visualization solutions
  • Applying design and data analysis techniques to present to a variety of audiences
  • Participating in various committees and project teams to ensure alignment of implementation with business needs
  • Directing staff, including setting performance standards and providing verbal input to performance appraisals
  • Implementing processes and standards that will increase the efficiency and productivity of the team and optimize the quality and performance of their products.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in mathematics, business or related discipline
  • Ten (10) years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • More than five (5) years of related experience in a data-related IT leadership role
  • Experience in designing business intelligence systems, dashboard reporting, and analytical reporting, using Power BI
  • Experience aligning business strategy to KPIs and resultant reports and scorecards
  • Advanced knowledge and related experience of SQL queries, views and stored procedures
  • Experience in relational database design using MS SQL Server, MySQL
  • Programming for statistical analysis, using data frames and associated analysis libraries, such as Python Pandas
  • Understanding of data storage and transformation processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to think conceptually, understand the big picture and convey clearly to others
  • Proven ability to lead and to supervise staff
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions
  • Strong communication skills including presenting analysis to a non-technical audience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience developing and fostering teamwork and facilitating team dynamics.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
  • GIS analysis using relevant tools and technologies a bonus



SALARY: $85,867.60 per annum (2021 Rates)
