Reporting to the Managing Director, Risk Advisory and Management, this role will manage a portfolio of distressed corporate accounts and act as an advisor to sales teams on challenging accounts. The position will focus on developing strategies and risk mitigation while working with borrowers to turnaround challenged businesses, maximizing recoveries while navigating to an exit in instances where turnaround is not viable, and negotiating with borrowers and other stakeholders.

Director, Turnaround and Restructuring Group Accountabilities:

YOUR IMPACT

  • Negotiate with clients and other stakeholders including being able to lead and navigate through difficult conversations
  • Work and communicate effectively with restructuring professionals, insolvency counsels, valuators, and financial advisors
  • Perform detailed analysis with the ability to step back and see the big picture
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships at every level across industries and internally across the organization
  • Ability to negotiate with many stakeholders to derive the maximum outcome/recovery
  • Analyze and negotiate customer deals to ensure profitability of the relationship
  • Ensure credit decisions / recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures
  • Coordinate efforts and coaching Associate Director assigned to portfolio, ensuring customer service expectations and credit quality is maintained

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ONE ATB TEAM

  • At least 5 years of accounting or banking experience, and experience in working with challenged accounts in restructuring and insolvency would be considered an asset.
  • A Client Obsessed focus and a desire to be a Champion of Belonging.
  • A post-secondary degree in business, with a focus on marketing, finance, accounting or equivalent experience. Related Graduate level degree (MBA) or CA, CFA or CIRP designation would be an asset
  • Able to quickly gain working knowledge of a business and its industry
  • Demonstrated credibility through professional track record, integrity and business knowledge
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with the ability to develop consensus and to influence key stakeholders
  • Work well under pressure and able to make decisions based on limited information
