We are looking for BOLD students Bright, Originators who Lead and Deliver success to our customers. The successful summer student will work within a team with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Summer students must be available between May and August for all shift rotations (Day shift: 7:00 am -7:00 pm and Night shift: 7:00 pm - 7:00 am).
The Operator position is to ensure that all products and packaging meet the company’s quality standards throughout the production of assembling and packaging parts. All Operators must follow company policies and procedures including compliance with Health and Safety Legislation.
Requirements
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare, assemble, and pack product as per instructions and methods
- Assemble cardboard boxes and prepare crates as required
- Visually inspect product to ensure product meets quality standards before it is packaged
- Ensure packaging has appropriate label, weight, quantity, and quality
- Report and input scrap into MES terminals, as well as update scrap verification sheets as instructed.
- Follow good housekeeping practices to ensure work area is clean and organized
- Follow all instructions provided by the supervisor
- Immediately report hazardous conditions and near miss incidents to the supervisor
- All other duties as assigned
Education amp; Certificates
- Entry level position, High school or College/University student
Technical Skills amp; Experience
- Basic knowledge of math
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
- Ability to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and manage time wisely
- Ability to work well with others and individually and follow instruction(s)
Proficiencies:
Key relationships:
- Interacts daily with the supervisor, quality control inspectors, material handlers, set-up department, maintenance department, and other operators
- Occasionally with production manager and other departments as required
Working conditions:
- Summer student may be exposed to hazards in the workplace, such as chemicals, commercial products, exposure to potential toxins, moving machinery, repetitive motion, excessive noise, powered industrial vehicle fork/reach/ bucket lift/other.
- Summer student may perform a considerable level of specific tasks such as lifting, muscular action, body movements, working positions, posture changes, visual attentiveness.
- Summer student will be required to wear protective eyewear, laboratory coat, appropriate gloves, hearing protection, respiratory protection, safety shoes, hard hat, and/or other.
- Summer student may experience progressive degrees of factors in the work process which may cause mental tension or anxiety (changing work priorities, deadlines, accuracy, quotas, conflicting demands.)
