Education Centre Lead Numeracy Teacher

FTE: 1.00

The expected start is August 24th, 2021 or will be based upon mutual agreement between the Division and the candidate.

The Division is looking for a Lead Numeracy Teacher who will work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and will be based out of the Education Centre.

Professional Competencies

The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the development and implementation of a Division Numeracy Strategy.
  • Facilitate the implementation of numeracy assessment tools across grades 1-9.
  • Provide school-based, job-embedded support for teachers as they implement effective numeracy instructional and assessment practices.
  • Support teachers in making connections between educational research, theory and classroom practice.
  • Support teachers in the implementation of the research-based effective instructional practices.
  • Provide professional learning and support for teachers new to the profession.
  • Plan cooperatively with teachers and administrators and engage in reflective conversations about current practice.
  • Model instruction, observe lessons and support teachers in incorporating effective numeracy practices in their instruction (i.e., residency model)
  • Promote the effective use of authorized program materials, school and classroom resources and professional resources.
  • Promote and provide professional learning events sponsored by the Division, SAPDC and other organizations.
  • Work in partnership with the Literacy/ELL Lead Teacher.
  • Advise and support schools in the implementation of:
    • School development numeracy goals and
    • Programs which support parental engagement in support of numeracy.
  • Support school teams in the collection and analysis of student numeracy achievement data.
  • Collect and analyze Division data and establish targets for improvement.

Requirements

  • Applicants must posses or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
