Armagh provides women and their children with the best possible opportunity to overcome the devasting effects of abuse. For over 25 years, Armagh has been giving help and hope to women fleeing abuse. We are committed to creating an environment that supports women and children through their transition, giving them the support and knowledge necessary to redefine a future. Unlike a first stage or crisis shelter, which responds to short-term emergencies, Armagh is a non-profit, supportive transitional housing program, providing housing and services to women with or without children who have been victims of family violence. Armagh provides supportive transitional housing with 9 residential apartments.

We are looking for a full-time Program Supervisor to join our team and make a positive difference in the lives of women and children in the Region of Peel.

The Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Supervisor duties and responsibilities relate to ensuring the development and monitoring of effective case management, management of client contact, the residential operation of the organization, and the ongoing support of former residents. The Program Supervisor also participates in the overall management of the agency in terms of strategic planning, program development, human resources management, and compliance with site and agency policies and procedures.

What you will be doing?

  • Prepare timely, accurate statistical and operational reports as required for internal and external reporting purposes
  • Develop ongoing program evaluations and ensure evaluations are completed
  • Participate in the development of person-centered, trauma and violence informed approaches and services
  • Uses mediation and supportive counselling to resolve client conflicts and complaints as they relate to community living
  • Assists women to understand the cycle of abuse and the effects on themselves and their children
  • Assists staff in developing safety strategies or safety plans for women and their children
  • Participates in the hiring of staff; provides on-going supervision for staff; conducts staff meetings
  • Orients and trains new employees and students regarding the policies, services, and safety procedures
  • Identifies training and development needs of employees and with the Executive Director, develops and implements an action plan to meet these needs
  • Participates in the performance management program
  • Maintains employee attendance records and vacation schedules
  • Provide backup support to Direct Service Staff positions and their functions as required
  • Assists staff in advocating on behalf of abused women and their children by acting as a liaison with the police, crown attorney, lawyers, legal aid, other community agencies (CAS, counsellors, doctors, etc.)
  • Represent the organization at public speaking engagements, community groups, and other areas as requested
  • Oversee rent calculations and administration
  • Complete unit inspections with staff and communicates any concerns

Requirements

The Essentials

  • University or college degree in the human services field (BSW preferred)
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Extensive experience in Social Services, specifically working with women and children in areas of poverty, violence and homelessness (shelter specific experience is a definite asset)
  • Experience in program development and evaluation, including the capacity to develop and monitor evaluation frameworks and employ the logic model in program delivery and evaluation
  • Experience in working and serving a diverse community
  • Sound knowledge of issues pertaining to woman abuse, post-traumatic stress, the legal justice system and the social services network within the
