What we are looking for?
Responsible for assisting the Accounting Department in their efforts to accomplish the Company’s goals and objectives by providing accounting and financial support. This includes preparation and recording of various journal entries, preparation of monthly financial package, month-end reconciliations, and any other financial, clerical and/or administrative services needed to ensure efficient, timely and accurate financial reporting.
This position will begin remotely but will be based in Toronto upon offices reopening.
Roles amp; Responsibilities:
- Analyze contracts to determine proper billing and revenue schedule
- Review the A/P and A/R entries to ensure accuracy of posted bills and invoices
- Monitors customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
- Manages month-end close processes, booking journal entries and providing appropriate detail level review and analysis
- Responsible for month-end reconciliation and roll-forward of balance sheet accounts
- Assists with year-end financial and other audits as required
- Assists in management and reconciliation of projects
- Initiates solutions independently for issues that come up throughout various processes
- Undertakes special projects as requested
Requirements
- Minimum Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance
- General knowledge of G.A.A.P preferred, demonstrating comprehensive accounting and technical skills
- 3+ years accounting experience
- Ability to manage and analyze financial data
- Outgoing and extroverted, but in a professional way
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Well-developed analytical, problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to exercise judgement independently in complex and new situations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; specifically, advanced features of Excel
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP helpful(understanding of revenue recognition accounting principles is preferred)
- Understanding of Canadian HST/GST and tax withholding laws
- Experience of lodging HST/GST returns is preferred
