Reporting to the Program Lead, Recreation and Volunteer Engagement and receiving direction and support from the Foundation Team, this position provides support to Foundation initiatives during the 8-week Canada Summer Job term.
Who you are
- You are skilled at research, planning, organizing and will provide support for the development and facilitation of foundation/recreation programs to be offered over a virtual platform.
- You can conduct research on accessibility and inclusion for recreational/social programs.
- You will assist with volunteer recruitment efforts to facilitate recreational activities.
- You will connect with community partners, stakeholders, volunteer centres, etc. to facilitate partnerships across the province.
- You will engage in communication and marketing strategies to reach a broader audience of participants and volunteers.
- You will support advocacy and public education initiatives through information sharing about accessibility and inclusion.
To be eligible for the funding associated with this position, you must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

- Desire to learn about operating in the charitable sector.
- Comfortable working with individuals with sight loss
- Experience working with volunteers, program facilitation, and program delivery using online platforms desired.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Highschool graduate preferred
- College or university student preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Must be able to work virtually: will require a good internet connection and your own computer (essential).
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
