Operator 1 (3 months Contract)

Our IPEX PVC Plant is looking for hard working, dynamic candidates to join our team. We currently have exciting three (3) month contract opportunities as an Operator. These roles are based out of our Edmonton, PVC Plant and reports to the Shift Supervisor. We are seeking energetic individuals with a keen eye to detail and a positive attitude. The successful candidates will have a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will:

• Prepare, assemble and pack product as per instructions and methods.
• Provide 100% of your support and commitment towards IPEX’s objective of successfully implementing and maintaining 5S System for the PVC plant.
• Building crates with pneumatic nail gun according to specification listed on the QC rating sheet.
• Strap crates tightly and neatly as per QC specifications
• Inspect product to ensure product meets standard before packaging.
• Ensure packaging has appropriate label, weight, quantity, and quality.
• Follows Work Instructions and reports any potential improvements.
• Manually pick up pipe from pipe tray to cart (weight 2lbs-50 lbs)
• Operate reciprocating saw to cut scrap pipe.
• Operate chop saw to cut scrap pipe in manual mode during start ups
• Responsible for performing duties in a safe and practical manner and ensure that your workspace is free of hazards.
• Attach employee identification number to every assembled part, package and crate or as directed.
• Ensure work area is clean and tidy prior to any rotation or shift end
• Responsible for keeping a clean and organized work area at all times
• Supporting the execution of the 5S System within the plant
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Working 12-hours Continental shift work
• High School level reading and writing skills
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
• High school level mathematical skills
• Excellent housekeeping and organizational skills
• Able to communicate effectively in English both written and verbally
• Experience in manufacturing environment is an asset
• Knowledge of Health and Safety practices is necessary
