Data Science amp; Engineering @ WealthsimpleThe Data Science amp; Engineering (DSE) team consists of data scientists and software engineers with diverse backgrounds in math, operations research, economics, computer science, engineering and business. The team is responsible for enabling data-driven decision making and building data products at Wealthsimple. We achieve these goals by:1. Building a high quality and scalable state-of-the-art data warehouse that powers all decision making2. Leveraging machine learning and algorithms to help Wealthsimple build smarter financial products3. Using decision science to understand the cause and effect of our business decisions
More about the roleWe are building a multi-product company with a growing offering including Invest, Cash, Crypto, Trade and Tax products. As a Data Scientist on the Growth Algorithms team, you will play a pivotal role in helping grow the number of clients using and loving Wealthsimple’s products. You will work closely with the Growth Marketing team, a highly cross functional team consisting of full stack developers, designers, product managers and growth specialists, to find new opportunities to grow Wealthsimple In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Develop experimentation strategies to optimize the client onboarding funnel
• Work on probabilistic lead scoring models to understand likelihood to adopt various Wealthsimple products
• Work on segmentation and personalization to create an individualized client onboarding experience
• Release incrementally and iteratively
• Take ownership and ship it!

We are looking for someone who:

• Has 3+ years of strong SQL amp; Python skills coupled with experience working with popular Python libraries such as Pandas, scikt-learn, numpy and Jupyter
• Brings strong understanding of fundamental machine-learning algorithms: regression and decision trees
• Brings strong understanding of statistics: both frequentist and Bayesian approaches
• Has strong foundations in experimental design, statistics and domain knowledge in marketing
• Is an excellent communicator who is able to tailor our fraud fighting narrative to their audience
• Loves data to make better decisions and believes that simple is better
• Has experience with Apache Airflow, and a BI tool like Periscope, Mode Analytics or Tableau (this is a bonus!)
