Job Description

Contract, Ontario West

The Coordinator, Advocacy and Outreach (Ontario West) assists with driving forward our public education and outreach initiatives for the Ontario West region. The Coordinator, Advocacy and Outreach will support the advocacy work of the region, reporting to the Team Lead, Community Engagement, Ontario North amp; West. Further, this position will support individual advocacy issues, empowering participants to successfully advocacy for themselves. The Coordinator, Advocacy and Outreach will also develop and co-facilitate local advocacy programming.

  • Provide participants with support for individual advocacy issues.
  • Support the development of public outreach activities.
  • Deliver local and empowering advocacy programs.
  • Collaborate with Ontario Advocacy Leads and Coordinators, to implement Ontario advocacy plan.
  • Build, support and enhance the visibility of CNIB's advocacy and public awareness efforts in the community.
  • Support regional diversity and inclusion initiatives to ensure that CNIB's outreach work is inclusive and reaching a diverse audience that reflects the demographics of our region.

Requirements

We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Degree in related field (Disability Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Work, etc.).
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience working in program development and delivery within a charity or non-profit organization.
  • Experience in coordinating advocacy and outreach events.
  • Experience in coordinating training workshops and creating and delivering impactful presentations.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Well organized and effective coordination skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with CRM, specifically Salesforce, is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset
