Job Description
Valard is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications and renewable energy.
Valard’s Geomatics division is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to execute field surveys in a safe, timely and efficient manner. This position is based out of Regina, SK. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with the occasional weekend as project requirements dictate. Please note, this position is subject to alcohol and drug testing as required by our clients, project requirements and/or health and safety policies.
Requirements
- Perform daily field survey activities including measuring angles and distances, locating and establishing survey monuments, marking boundaries and rights of way and locating above and underground facilities
- Demonstrate working knowledge of survey methodologies
- Interpret drawings, legal survey plans, field data, field sketches, base maps, safety procedures and Emergency Reponses Plans to implement successful project completion
- Communicate effectively and regularly with Field Leads, Project Managers, Professional Land Surveyors and Client Field Representatives
- Coordinate field crew’s daily activities and supervise, mentor and train survey assistants
- Operate and maintain assigned survey equipment, ATVs/UTVs/Argos/Snowmobiles, tools and materials
- Actively promote Valard’s Health, Safety and Environmental Program
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous survey experience in engineering, construction, industrial or legal surveys
- Must have valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driver’s abstract
- Technical diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering is preferred
