About the Role

Quality Engineering Technologist will focus on quality control and management in both our receiving and production areas. The challenge is to balance your passion for quality with your ability to achieve deadlines and effectively manage constraints in a fast-paced production environment.

You will also have some opportunity to work on cool Ramp;D projects and apply your creativity and resourcefulness to achieve unique solutions as we launch new products. This is a terrific opportunity for a new graduate or young professional to grow his/her skillset and learn about production operations and LEAN manufacturing with a potential for future growth into our product development or Ramp;D department.

Responsibilities

The Quality Engineering Technologist will be responsible for investigating quality disturbances from supplier delivered product or due to internal processing through random inspections or identified by other team members. Reviews findings with cross-functional team and provides recommendations for preventative and corrective actions; once approved, they assist in the implementing the corrective actions. Works with quality inspections team members to train and oversee inspectors in the use of inspection tools, procedures, control forms and correcting quality problems. Works with cross-functional stakeholders to improve processes, systems and IT solutions to support. Has wide knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the manufacturing Quality field.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary education (e.g. Mechanical Technologist diploma or Engineering degree or equivalent) considered an asset
  • 2- 5 years in a mechanical manufacturing environment or warehouse environment preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality control would be an asset
  • Effective communicator throughout multiple levels of an organization (Operations, Engineering, Purchasing).
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Lean manufacturing experience is an asset.

Qualities and Aptitudes

  • Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and very good organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Work under demanding deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and product data management tools like Autodesk Vault.
