Our team is growing, and we're currently looking for a Cost Analyst to join our costing team within the Finance department. This is a full-time, permanent position to be based at our Nuns-Island office in Montreal, and to report directly to the Costing Supervisor.

Job Summary:

The cost analyst will have the responsibility of the preparation and analysis of costs incurred as well as resources utilized for operations in the plant. They will act as a Controller for 2 or 3 plants located in Canada and US and will partner and work closely with the Plant Manager.

The Cost Analyst will need to provide timely, relevant, and accurate analysis of costs, monitor variances, identify trends, and explain significant or unusual fluctuations. Additionally, they will perform ad hoc analysis and other duties as required.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform cost accounting activities including analyzing production and actual product costs versus standard costs, preparing monthly variance reports, and determining profitability of products:
  • Preparation of Manufacturing Expense reports and analysis of variances
  • Preparation of Manufacturing Statements (statistical data)
  • Analysis of monthly raw material counts amp; variances
  • Preparation amp; analysis of COS/COP variances
  • Journal entry preparation
  • Analysis of monthly production variances
  • Yearly manufacturing budget preparation
  • Opening of new manufacturing product codes, keeping the ERP updated
  • Participate in year-end preparations
  • Periodic visit and/or work sessions at the plants
  • Inventory management and assisting with annual inventory counts

Qualifications amp; Experience:

  • 1 - 5 years of experience in costing in the manufacturing industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
  • CPA designation or in progress
  • Fully bilingual (French and English)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel amp; Word, SAP experience is a plus
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle shifting priorities.
  • Advanced Analytical skills
  • Detail oriented
