Job Description

Canada Summer Jobs contract, Ottawa ON

Reporting to the Program Lead, Peer Support and Youth Empowerment, this position will assist in the execution of CNIB's national and regional programming initiatives. The successful candidate will engage in the development and implementation of recreational programming and initiatives for children and youth.

Your impact at CNIB

  • Provide support with the development and implementation of interactive activities and programming for children and youth. We anticipate that programming will be virtual, public health regulations pending.
  • Facilitate inclusive and accessible recreational programs for our children and youth and promote participation.
  • Coordinate community outreach efforts with local CNIB Foundation staff, with a focus on fostering relationships with youth, parents, school boards, and program stakeholders.
  • Provide communication support such as content creation, key messages and social media and program offerings.

Requirements

We want to hear from you if you are:
  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Protection Act
  • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible.
  • The ideal candidate has experience in working with children and youth and/or recreational programming
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Mature and responsible.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset
