ATB’s Managing Director, Vendor Oversight is to provide strategic and tactical leadership and oversight of the development, implementation and communication of a sourcing and multi-vendor strategy ensuring alignment with business and technology strategies. This role will be focused on aligning organization, roles and processes to be effective in gaining optimal value from technology vendors. A key objective of this role will be to elevate and manage the technical vendor relationships to one of a strategic partnership in delivering on the overall mandate of the business.

Success in this role is demonstrated through vendor value delivery, driving effective governance, processes and relationships, executing effective IT asset lifecycle management through leading an engaged, high-performing team.

Managing Director, Vendor Oversight Accountabilities:

  • Establishing and influencing roles and responsibilities that ensure organizational service owners can plan and execute work effectively with vendors
  • Tracking value for work and ensuring the organization is receiving optimal value from technology vendors and contracts
  • Establishing a limited set of strategic technology vendors and facilitating appropriate relationships with those vendors
  • Segment and rationalize the vendor portfolio so that appropriate focus can be applied to the most strategically important vendor relationships/engagements.
  • Maintain an inventory of vendor spend, in collaboration with other areas, such as finance and procurement, by category and cost center, etc.
  • Proactively managing contracts, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, and understanding a wide variety of ATB technologies and processes
  • Meet with leaders to gain a deep understanding of their requirements to ensure contracts meet business needs and align to requirements as determined by ATB's procurement team.
  • Providing advice and guidance to leaders throughout the lifecycle of the vendor relationship, prepare for and lead complex negotiations using a data-driven approach, and where needed provide support for contract enforcement; engage in thorough deal analysis and recommendations.
  • Developing and improving Vendor policies, standards and procedures, and providing advice and sharing knowledge and best practices with respect to the vendor compliance, risk, financial, and performance management functions
  • Providing reporting on vendor performance results and recommend and coordinate actions to remediate issues
  • Serve as the leadership-level point of contact between the vendors and internal stakeholders consuming the vendor services and solutions.
  • Manage the collection, consolidation and communication of reporting and data on vendor contracts, performance, risk and relationships to key stakeholders and vendors.
  • Maintain vendor risk assessments or risk registers in cooperation with risk, privacy, business continuity and security teams.
  • Leading a vendor oversight and asset management team that is focused on vendor relationships, managing ATB’s technology assets, including the establishment of an effective governance process for both disciplines
  • Raising awareness of duplication or overlap of services/capabilities being utilized by multiple teams, and providing guidance in determining viable solutions.
  • Creating the conditions for periodic vendor competitive bids for major aspects of work within the business.
  • Foster an engaged, engineering culture leading a team of vendor management and asset management professionals ensuring skills and capabilities of the team continue to keep pace with industry trends.
  • Ensure that the right resources are in the right role based on their skills and competencies through development of engagement strategies, status and review structures, and performance targets and reviews.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of IT experience with a deep understanding of the relationship between IT services, business operations, contracts and vendor relationships
  • Post secondary degree in Business or Information Technology. A professional designation would be an asset. ITAM certification preferred; strong understanding of ITIL
