Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk

We have a full-time opportunity for an Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk to join our Accounting Team.

As part of the Accounting team, you will focus on all aspects of the Accounts Payable function as well as Payroll tasks. This is a unique opportunity to explore and own this hybrid role.

Your time management and attention to detail skills, as well as your can-do attitude are key to be successful. You will be part of a collaborative and close-knit team that will provide great learning support. Your past payroll and A/P experience will help you take some initiatives and offer suggestions and ideas to improve processes. You will also work with various publishers around the world and enjoy a fast-paced work environment. In this role, you will:

  • Become familiar with full-cycle A/P
  • Be involved with EHT amp; Vacation accrual and adjustments
  • Post bank payments for bank reconciliations
  • Handle RRSP payments of executives and reconcile RRSP accounts
  • Conduct employee advance reconciliation, accrued payables miscellaneous reconciliation
  • Compute monthly royalty accrual and quarterly adjustments to reflect actual expense
  • Handle PPE schedule and depreciation
  • Prepare and accurately process payroll for employees in Canada and Europe in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the HR team ensuring input changes and adjustments are appropriately authorized within the deadlines
  • Maintain payroll records in payroll systems
  • Prepare Record of Employment
  • Respond to payroll related enquiries from employees, management and third parties
  • Post payroll journal entries into accounting system
  • Submit EHT, WorkSafe BC and all payroll remittances in a timely manner
  • Run yearend reconciliations of payroll totals to GL and tax forms
  • Process tax forms
  • Work with Payroll/AP Supervisor to create payroll documentations
  • Reconcile monthly employee benefit invoices


You are a great fit if you have:

  • 2 years of payroll experience in a complex business segment
  • Hands-on experience in Accounts Payable
  • Worked with external payroll processor, preferably ADP Workforce Now
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business analytical tools
  • A strong attention to detail along with exceptional time management skills
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Accounting knowledge frame work and standards (IFRS)
  • A collaborative mindset and you are able to take initiatives
  • A can-do attitude and take ownership of your tasks


Bonus points if you:

  • Knowledge of Dynamics Great Plains accounting system
  • Experience with multicurrency
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification or working towards it
  • Have a strong interest in the technology sector

This role is a full-time position based in our Richmond, BC office. Working from home is available during the Covid pandemic and we are considering hybrid solutions post-pandemic.
