Overview

As General Manager, you will be responsible for building Gorillas’ presence in Canada from the very beginning. You will be involved in all aspects of the business, from setting the strategy for a successful market entry to overseeing all operations across the country. In this role, you will manage all local teams within operations and provide leadership for every department that operates within the country. Ultimately, the success of the territory rests on your shoulders and is determined by your ability to execute and effectively lead a team that is hyper-focused on delivering a perfect experience for our customers.

Your responsibilities

  • Oversee all in-market operations, taking ownership for Gorillas’ overall performance in Canada
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve performance, providing direction and guidance to all department leaders within the country
  • Drive improvements of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as: Order Picking Time, Riding Time, Order Defect Rate, Product Availability, and Cost Per Order.
  • Own financial performance, including full P+L, of your market, while creating plans to improve profitability in both the short and long term
  • Ensure all Gorillas’ operations - from HR to food quality assurance - are legally compliant with relevant regulation and the company operates according to the highest ethical standards

Requirements

  • 5+ years of leadership experience and scaling teams across departments, preferably with exposure to last-mile logistics and/or retail
  • High-growth environment and start up experience, ideally with a background of launching, scaling, and operating in Canada
  • Affinity for using data to make strategic decisions
  • A understanding of the grocery / convenience market, and a willingness to disrupt the way it currently operates
  • A desire to work in a dynamic environment at one of the fastest-growing food delivery startups
  • Proficiency in English required
