Job Description

Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is a unique health services organization that serves people who are blind or partially sighted across the country. Our certified specialists provide training that empowers clients to develop or to restore activities of daily living skills, to promote their independence, to enhance safety and mobility. We work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists and other health care professionals, by providing essential care on a referral basis in homes, workplaces and communities across the country.

Job Title: Client Support Scheduler

Term: Full Time

Location: British Columbia - This position can be based in one of our VLRC offices: Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George and/or Abbottsford.

Summary:

In covering a broad range of duties, the focus of this role is client and VLRC BC service delivery coordination.

Your impact at VLRC:

Coordination of Client Services and Support

  • Provides general information about Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) services and resources to clients and families.
  • Assists clients and the public with general enquiries, referring as appropriate.
  • Advises clients on all VLRC services and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Supports VLRC specialists in their service delivery with clients.
  • Update client status/information in database as required.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of client appointments and reminder calls.
  • Coordinates the VLRC supportive review processes ensuring all clients post 12 months of service receive a follow up call in a timely fashion.
  • Provide support for VLRC staff by completing internal referrals and external referrals to other services as well as confirming eligibility for programs.
  • Undertakes supportive review calls to clients as required.
  • Prepares and distributes VLRC external correspondence.
  • Maintains client and other office files, electronic and hardcopy in accordance with current VLRC policies and procedures.
  • Undertakes specific projects and activities as required to support VLRC.

  • Organization

  • Greets internal and external customers and answers incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provides general information about VLRC to external partners and community members.
  • Assists with booking of rooms, community clinics and client visits.
  • Assists with public education events under the direction of the regional Manager.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of office equipment, as required.
  • Organizes and coordinates with external services, as required.
  • Supports VLRC internal processes as directed by the manager.

  • Health and Safety

  • Participates fully as a member of the VLRC occupational health and safety committee.
  • Ensures the health and safety policy is upheld and requirements met.
  • Supports health and safety related activities for local office as required.
  • Requirements

    Who you are:

    • Someone who demonstrates organizational and time management skills.
    • You have Sensitivity to the needs of persons with vision loss
    • You have the ability to work effectively in client management systems.
    • You have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
    • You are detail-oriented with a priority on accuracy in data entry
    • You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and database management and willingness to learn new software applications.
    • You have Knowledge of eye conditions and blindness prevention is an asset.
    • You have Knowledge of the psychosocial impact of vision loss is an asset.
    • The ability to communicate in English is essential.

    We want to hear from you if you have:

    • Post secondary education in a related field.
    • Experience in client service with people with vision loss.
    • Minimum 3 years work experience within a client care setting.

    Work Environment:

    • Ability to work flexible hours.
    • Willingness to travel in the province as required.
