We are seeking a Senior Engineer-Vehicle Integration Testing to join our lean and agile Burnaby team. This role reports to the Testing Manager. The Senior Engineer-Vehicle Integration Testing joins the testing team and manages the vehicle level validation process activities during the product design cycle; Inclusive from product concept through to production launch.

Duties amp; Responsibilities:

General Requirements

  • Identify test methods and standards required for vehicle level durability and performance evaluations.
  • Provide input in the creation of vehicle, subsystem amp; component specifications, test procedures and other technical documents.
  • Participate in the definition, implementation, and documentation of design verification and validation testing on new vehicle platforms, products as well as updates to existing products.
  • Develop Vehicle development amp; Production validation test plans and procedures using a variety of different test methods as needed in order to validate vehicle performance targets.
    • Including, but not limited to extended life test methods and overstress test methods.
  • Participate and organize benchmarking of competitive vehicles, systems, components in order to define functional target and engineering specifications
  • Organize the vehicle testing schedule, ensuring vehicle testing design validation plans (DVPs) are executed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Identify instrumentation equipment required for vehicle testing.
  • Install required instrumentation and setup data acquisition test configuration.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to identify root causes of non-conformance and testing failure/s.
  • Contribute with the review of system and component designs, DFMEA’s, Continuous Improvement activities, and more.
  • Technical Analysis of data, including written and verbal summaries; inclusive of Statistical amp; Graphical analysis as well as derive conclusions and recommendations based on test outcome.
  • Prepare and present test reports and results to cross-functional teams.

Other Duties

  • Other duties as occasionally outlined by company management.
  • This role will be required to communicate with product buyers, vendors and other departments to ensure all components function effectively in ElectraMeccanica vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • 8 -10 years of experience with product validation is required for this role.
  • Automotive experience is required for this role.
  • Programming skills: C/C++/Python/Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
  • Experience with engineering tools like Jira, Quartz, CentreStack, an asset. .
  • Results-oriented individual that thrives in a self-driven environment.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Experienced with design of automated test systems and simulations to effectively test products.
  • Familiar with certification standards and experience with automotive compliance is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a variety of audiences.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license (legally able to drive a passenger car in Canada)
  • Driver safety training qualified (test driver’s license) is preferred and considered an asset.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
