Job Description

1 year contract, New Westminster BC

This position is responsible for delivering a wide variety of programs to children and youth throughout the British Columbia region. Through participation in programs like Beyond the Classroom and Youth Empowerment, youth with sight loss will have the opportunity to develop positive social skills, increase their sense of confidence and independence, and acquire leadership skills necessary for the successful transition to adulthood.


Your impact at CNIB
  • Program Delivery
    • Coordinate and steward relationships in the education, technology sector that will support participant engagement and empowerment.
    • Coordinate implementation plans to maximize the success of Children and Youth Programs in your local market, working within established service standards and program curricula.
  • Participant Engagement
    • Champion CNIB's high standards of participant and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by staff and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of local operations.
    • Build strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
  • Volunteer Engagement
    • Help make CNIB the organization of choice for volunteers promoting our commitment to volunteer engagement at every opportunity and developing the active volunteer base needed to support local operations.
    • Foster an inclusive, empowered culture where every team member staff and volunteer feels their contributions towards our mission are equally valued and respected.
  • Community Partnership
    • Develop and steward strong and effective partnerships with community organizations that are aligned to and/or can help further our mission, including other service delivery organizations, funding agencies, etc.
    • Act as a key local ambassador for CNIB, representing and promoting the organization at all relevant external events.

Requirements

We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience within a charity/not-for-profit organization.
  • Experience developing children and youth programming is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Portrays the appropriate professional image
  • knowledge in accessibility and adaptive technology
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills
  • Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Flexible and able to respond to new tasks.
  • Good analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills.
  • Professional attitude results oriented.
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons experiencing vision loss.
  • Experience in Salesforce is an asset.
  • Experience with Braille Literacy is an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset
