Role: VP, People amp; Culture

Coconut is looking for an experienced leader to drive our people, culture, and talent acquisition strategies and execute initiatives across the Human Resources function of our business. After 3 consecutive years of tremendous growth and completion of the Google Accelerator for Startups, we are gearing up to scale even faster and are looking to add someone to our team who can lead our People and Culture function, and position Coconut as the #1 place to work as we grow from 100 to 200+ employees.

Working closely with our Chief Executive Officer and VP Finance, this newly created position will lead Coconut’s People and Culture team. The role is responsible for developing and delivering all aspects of Coconut’s people strategy including:

  • Talent acquisition
  • Cultural initiatives
  • Performance management
  • Engagement and retention
  • Learning and career development
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Compensation and benefits
  • Workforce planning

This role also partners with the leaders across the company to help them build and develop their teams, make effective people-related decisions based on data and organizational alignment, and establish strong communication channels across our distributed workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Leadership and the People and Culture Team to build upon and execute the long-term strategy for the People and Culture function, emphasizing engagement and retention
  • Help maintain our core values and ensure that all People and Culture decisions, programs, and processes are aligned with our culture and core values
  • Lead the People and Culture team, ensuring that it operates efficiently and executes on goals
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to the People amp; Culture team
  • Execute company-wide performance management programs that encourage a high-performance culture and drive continuous, transparent feedback across the organization
  • Build scalable learning and development programs that help grow our team’s capabilities, support retention, and prepare high-potential employees for management roles
  • Partner with leaders to understand and anticipate hiring and development needs, and compare to the capabilities needed to deliver business objectives
  • Prepare workforce plans and organizational designs that support business goals
  • Lead the Talent Acquisition Team to recruit top talent for the company aligned with workforce plans and objectives, help drive employer branding initiatives that enhance Coconut’s brand awareness
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, state, and local laws and employment regulations
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel regarding employment matters and compliance with regulations
  • Prepare and maintain the budget for all People, Culture, and Talent Acquisition expenditures
  • Prepare, analyze, and report on Culture, People and Talent Acquisitions metrics that support effective planning and decision making

Requirements

What you bring to the team:

  • Approximately 10 to 12+ years of Human Resources/People/Talent work experience
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience leading and managing a People/HR/Talent team at a high-growth technology company
